With the release of ArchForm version 1.8.1, we've introduced a number of new export options that will allow you to maximize your resin savings.

Introduced in this version is vertical models with a joined base plate, open-back hollowing, mesh in-fill hollowing, and gum labeling. You can choose any combination of export options to find exactly the model print type fits into your workflow.

Vertical (Base): Creates a base plate that connects both ends of the arch to make a solid model for easier removal from the printer build plate. You will still need to set a tilt angle to improve print accuracy and avoid print failures from overhangs.

Open-back hollow: The rear of the model is open to allow resin to drain while being printed.

Mesh in-fill hollow: Generates a latticework on the rear of the model to give more structural support during vacuum forming of the aligner. Due to added strength of the model, you will be able to decrease the wall thickness down from what you would normallly have to print at with just an open-back model.

Gum labeling: Adds the abbreviated patient name, along with the aligner number and total in series, to whichever side of the gum wall you desire. You will want to make sure you leave enough room with your trimming to allow for room of the label on the gum.

You still have all your old export options.

Horizontal: Prepares the model to be printed on a flat surface. Combined with the new gum labeling, you will now be able to more easily read which model is which.

Vertical (No Base): Extrudes to bases from the end of both arches.

In-Occlusion: Exports the models so that when imported back into ArchForm, or another software, the arches remain in occlusion.
